Phase I Treatment
(Skeletal Correction and Growth Monitoring)
All children between the ages of 7 and 8 should have an initial orthodontic consultation, according to the American Association of Orthodontists!
Phase I treatment (early interceptive treatment) is orthodontic treatment that is done during the mixed dentition period when children begin to lose their baby teeth. This is the best time to detect whether there are disturbances in jaw growth or tooth development. A short phase of orthodontic treatment can be utilized at this time to favorably enhance jaw growth. Treatment may also be undertaken to create space and to guide eruption of permanent teeth into proper alignment. This phase of treatment typically lasts from 9 to 12 months, however, treatment is individualized to the needs of each child.
Avant-Garde Orthodontics provides complementary initial evaluations and consultations for all children. We would love to see your child’s smile grow at Avant-Garde Orthodontics!
(Age 11 - Age 17)
Comprehensive Treatment or
Phase II Treatment
At Avant-Garde Orthodontics we especially love to create beautiful smiles for teenagers between the ages of 11 and 17!
Comprehensive orthodontic treatment refers to the traditional course of treatment that many people go through once all of their permanent teeth have erupted. Individuals who have had Phase I treatment (sometimes called Early Treatment) usually begin Phase II treatment during their early adolescent years.
During comprehensive treatment (Phase II treatment), teeth are aligned for maximum esthetics, function and stability with a combination of braces, specialized retainers, and/or expansion appliances as needed. Missing teeth may be replaced during this stage, and teeth that are out of position, or fail to erupt, may be brought into the dental arch through forced eruption or removal.
Our door is always open for a complimentary initial consultation. Your smile begins at Avant-Garde Orthodontics!
